After briefly experimenting with smaller phones, brands are now focusing on slimness as a key selling point. Samsung, for example, is rumoured to be working on the Galaxy S25 Slim edition to compete with Apple’s anticipated iPhone 17 Air. If you’re excited about Samsung’s slim phone, we have some fresh rumoured details, including its launch timeline and specifications such as the processor and thickness. Let’s take a closer look.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim launch timeline (tipped)

• As per tipster Debayan Roy, Samsung could launch Galaxy S25 Slim (model number (SM-S937x/DS) in Q2 2025. That means it won’t launch alongside the other Galaxy S25 phones in January. Tipster Ice Universe also corroborates this.
• Roy says the Slim phone will match the launch timeline of the Galaxy A and Galaxy FE series. However, the Galaxy S24 FE debuted in September 2024 (Q3) and Galaxy A55 debuted in March 2024 (Q1). So, we are not sure what he means. Perhaps, this year, Samsung is planning a different launch timeframe for all these lineups.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim specifications (tipped)

• Thickness: As per Ice Universe, the Samsung phone could around 6mm thick. That’s way slimmer than the 7.6mm Galaxy S24. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to be about 6.25mm thick. 

• Battery: Considering the slim form factor, the next question would be about its battery size. The device is said to carry a 4,700 to 5,000mAh cell. That’s impressive for a slim phone like this. Even the Galaxy S24 has a 4,000mAh battery. We assume Samsung is using something similar to the silicon carbon anode battery tech found in the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro.
• Display: Well, the S25 Slim won’t be just slender, it will be tall too, suggests the rumoured 6.66-inch screen. That puts it in the Galaxy S24+ screen range (6.7-inch).
• Cameras: On the back of the phone, there could be a 200MP HP5 main camera, a 50MP JN5 ultrawide shooter and a 50MP JN5 3.5x telephoto snapper. 
• Processor: Under the hood, we are expecting a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. So, Samsung may not be cutting corners when it comes to hardware specs.

Till the Q2 2025 launch timeline, we could come across more details about the phone. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come out in the second half of 2025. So, we look forward to pitting both these slim monsters when they finally land.
