Smartphone explosions still continue to be a recurring occurrence. In the latest unfortunate event, one person in Maharashtra, India reportedly lost their life while another was injured after a smartphone exploded. The phone in question is said to be a CMF Phone 1. The news has been brought by ABP Majha channel which is now circulating on X (formerly Twitter). The cause of the smartphone’s explosion remains unclear at the moment.

  • ABP Majha reports that the CMF Phone 1 was purchased a little over a month ago. 
  • The device is said to have exploded when its owner was riding a bike, though there’s no confirmation of this so far.
  • The explosion reportedly resulted in the loss of control, unfortunately killing the owner. The other person has suffered serious injuries. 
  • The incident occurred when the two people were on their way from Kolhapur to Sangli. 
  • The source adds that the smartphone’s battery burst leading to an explosion. 
  • The report is quite light on details and more information is awaited. 

Nothing is yet to give an official statement and investigate the incident. It remains to be seen if overheating was among the main culprits alongside the battery, but do note that the details are sketchy at the moment and there’s no confirmation of what exactly happened. The Nothing sub-brand had confirmed that the smartphone is ‘Made in India’. Notably, more than 100,000 units of the CMF Phone 1 were sold within 3 hours of the first sale in the country.
