Reliance-backed Jio could be working on a new feature phone as it has now secured the BIS certification. While the listing doesn’t reveal any hardware specifications or marketing name, it does hint at the imminent launch in India. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming JioPhone.

JioPhone series could soon get a new model
- The BIS certification, as spotted by 91mobiles, shows the model number JFP1AE-DS. The ‘DS” at the end could denote dual SIM.
- While the certification image doesn’t reveal the marketing name, it could be the JioPhone Prima 2 dual SIM version.
- This is considering the JioPhone Prima 2, which is already available in India, bears the same model number (JFP1AE), sans the DS.
- We can speculate the JioPhone Prima 2 DS could retain the same hardware as the standard model and also get dual SIM slots.
- The dual SIM version should allow you to use another network SIM in addition to Jio.

JioPhone Prima 2: specifications
The JioPhone Prima 2 was launched in India in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies.
- Display: The JioPhone Prima 2 sports a 2.4-inch display with slightly curved edges.
- The feature phone comes with features like video calling, Google Assistant, YouTube, Facebook, JioChat and Jio entertainment apps like JioSaavn, JioCinema, and JioTV.
- Processor: It is equipped with Qualcomm’s quad-core processor that is paired with 512MB RAM for seamless performance. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
- OS: The phone runs on the kaiOS 2.5.3 operating system and offers support for 23 languages.
- Jio Pay UPI is enabled on the phone for quick payments. It also allows you to scan QR Codes.
- The JioPrima 2 is equipped with an FM Radio, LED Torch, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB 2.0.
The JioPhone Prima 2 launched at Rs 2,799 and comes in a single Luxe Blue colour option. If JFP1AE-DS is indeed the JioPhone Prima 2 dual SIM, it should be slightly expensive.
