New OPPO smartwatch listing on MIIT suggests rebranded OnePlus Watch 3 | Tech Tips
OPPO recently launched its Reno 13 series in China and is working on debuting the phones in global markets, including India. However, it appears that the company could be working on one another product as well. A new OPPO smartwatch has now appeared on the MIIT certification in China and the listing reveals some interesting details.
A new OPPO smartwatch could debut soon
- As spotted by 91mobiles, the MIIT certification reveals the model number OWW251 and the applicant name: OPPO.
- Interestingly, the alleged OnePlus Watch 3 that recently bagged the FCC certification has a similar series model number: OPWWE251 (the OP at the start could mean OnePlus).
- This could mean that there are chances the OPPO OWW251 could be a rebrand of the OnePlus Watch 3 for the Chinese market.
- As for the MIIT certification, the listing shows the OPPO smartwatch may feature LTE connectivity (TD-LTE/LTE FDD/WCDA standards). There will be eSIM support with an independent eUICC chip.
- The operating system mentioned in the listing is Android.
To recall, the OPPO Watch X, which debuted earlier this year in select markets shared an identical design and hardware as the OnePlus Watch 2. There are chances the company might follow the same pattern for the successor (presumably OPPO Watch X2?) as well. We can speculate both the upcoming smartwatches from OPPO and OnePlus could have similar specifications. It’s no secret that OPPO and OnePlus share the latest technologies for its products.
The FCC listing showed the possible OnePlus Watch 3 will come with a 631mAh rated battery/648mAh typical battery and measure 46.6 X 47.6 X 11.75mm. Connectivity options could include 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BR+EDR+BLE), GNSS, and NFC. Earlier rumours claimed the smartwatch may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chipset.
OnePlus Watch 3 is tipped to debut globally and possibly in India alongside the OnePlus 13. The company already confirmed the flagship phone will launch in January 2025. We should know more details soon.
