As expected, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K80 series in China. The K80 and K80 Pro arrive as the successors to the last year’s K70 and K70 Pro respectively. Both phones pack significant upgrades compared to their predecessors. The Pro model is the more premium offering among the two devices. The latest devices also come with flagship Snapdragon chipsets. The K80 duo mainly differ in the chipset, battery, and camera department. Read on to learn everything below. 

Redmi K80, K80 Pro pricing and availability

  • The Redmi K80 and K80 Pro are offered in multiple RAM and storage configurations up to 16GB and 1TB.
  • The K80 starts at CNY 2,499 (~$345) for the base variant. 
  • Meanwhile, the K80 Pro carries a starting price tag of CNY 3,699 (~$511). 
  • Both phones come in Snow Rock White, Mountain Green, and Mysterious Night Black colours with the vanilla model also getting an additional Twilight Moon Blue option.

The Redmi K-series is exclusive to China and arrives in India and other markets as rebranded POCO phones. 

Redmi K80, K80 Pro specifications

  • Display: The Redmi K80 and 80 Pro have the same AMOLED display measuring 6.67-inches and bearing a 2K resolution. Both phones feature a 120Hz refesh rate, up to 3,200 nits peak brightness, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. 
  • Processor: The standard and pro models are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets respectively. 
  • Battery: The K80 is backed by a 6,550mAh cell with support for 90W charging. On the other hand, the K80 Pro is fuelled by a smaller 6,000mAh unit but the charging speed maxes out at 120W and there’s also 50W wireless charging. 
  • Camera: The K80 duo have the same 50MP Sony LYT-800 main camera with OIS. The standard model has an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor whereas the pro features a 32MP snapper. The K80 Pro also comes with a 50MP OIS-enabled telephoto lens with floating mechanism. Both phones have a 20MP selfie snapper on the front. 
  • Others: Other features on the Redmi K80 duo include HyperOS 2.0, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 8K video recording, and IP68+69 certification. 

Redmi K80 series: what’s new

Compared to the Redmi K70 series, the K80 and K80 Pro come with a new design. The phones feature a circular camera island on the back panel and a flat frame. They also have robust durability compared to their predecessors. The front camera and battery capacities have been bumped on the latest offerings. Chipset is another obvious upgrade on the Redmi K80 duo. The smartphones also come with Xiaomi’s AISP imaging algorithm onboard.
