Samsung Galaxy M16 5G spotted on Geekbench, launch could be imminent | Tech Tips

Samsung Galaxy M16 5G could be in the works as the brand’s upcoming budget offering in the M-series. The handset has now appeared on Geekbench, hinting that the launch may not be far away. It will arrive as a successor to the Galaxy M15 5G that debuted in India in April this year. The benchmark platform reveals some key specifications of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy M16 5G Geekbench scores

• The Geekbench listing, as spotted by 91mobiles Indonesia, shows the model number SM-M166P.
• The same phone was spotted (via) on the Wi-Fi Alliance platform with the marketing name Samsung Galaxy M16 5G. This revealed dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity.
• The phone scored 552 points in the single-core round and 1611 points in the multi-core segment.

• The benchmark listing shows the phone will boot Android 14 OS and pack 7.29GB (8GB) RAM but there could be other options at launch.
• The phone is powered by an octa-core processor with 6 cores clocked at 2GHz and another 2 cores at 2.40GHz. The source code section mentions: Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
• The report notes the chipset in question could be the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, which also powers the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G.

• The Samsung Galaxy M16 5G also appeared on the Geekbench ML database and measured an AI performance score of 469.

The report speculates the Samsung Galaxy M16 5G may have identical specifications to the Galaxy A16 5G. This is considering the Galaxy M15 5G shares almost similar hardware as the Galaxy A15 5G, except for the battery size.

If this is indeed true, the Galaxy M16 5G might feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 90Hz refresh rate, 50MP + 5MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the back, a 13MP front camera, and a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is promised to get six years of OS updates but it remains to be seen whether the same will apply to the Galaxy M16 5G.

To recall, the Samsung Galaxy M15 5G launched in India in April this year at Rs 12,999 for the base model.
