Google Pixel 9a may feature the same camera sensor as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold: report | Tech Tips
Google Pixel 9 series is already out and is currently on sale worldwide. The focus is slowly shifting towards the next launch i.e. the Google Pixel 9a, the launch of which is not due until another few months. We have already come across multiple leaks in recent times like the renders, colour options, display and more. In the latest, the Pixel 9a camera details have leaked. Here’s what you should know.
Google Pixel 9a may have a 48MP camera
- According to the Android Headlines report, the Google Pixel 9a may feature a 48MP primary camera sensor, which could be the same one seen on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
- To recall, the Pixel 8a has the same 64MP camera used on the Pixel 7a.
- While this may seem like a downgrade on paper, the 48MP lens has a larger f/1.7 aperture, meaning it can capture more light than the 64MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture.
- The Pixel 9a could result in better low-light photography than previous models.
- Besides the main sensor, the 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and front-camera sensor will remain unchanged.
- The report notes that Pixel 9a will get the ‘Add Me’ feature which debuted with the Pixel 9 series in August.
- This feature will allow you to use AI to add yourself or someone to your group of friends or family photos.
- It appears that Google might trim down some notable AI features to its Pixel-A series device as well.
Google Pixel 9a: what we know so far
Google Pixel 9a will reportedly launch earlier than the usual May timeline. The handset is expected to debut around March 2025. Pre-orders will reportedly begin in mid-March 2025 and shipping and in-store availability will happen before the end of the month (March 2025).
The leaked render showed the phone will finally see a redesigned camera module design. Instead of a large horizontal stripe, we see an oval-shaped module in the left corner. The phone will have a flat display with rounded edges. There could be a punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper.
- Dimensions: The Google Pixel 9a will reportedly measure 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9mm and 9.4mm with the camera module. For context, the Pixel 8a measures 152.10 x 72.70 x 8.90mm.
- This could mean the Pixel 9a might get a slightly bigger display than the Pixel 8a, which has a 6.1-inch panel.
- Processor: The handset could be powered by the Tensor G4 processor like the Pixel 9 series.
- Colours: The handset could be available in Porcelain, Obsidian, Peony and Iris colours.
