Samsung phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset confirmed, could be the Galaxy S25 series | Tech Tips
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite has finally made its debut and is said to be a leap forward compared to the previous generation i.e. the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Shortly after the announcement, Samsung Mobile president, TM Roh was invited to the stage, where he teased that future Galaxy models (the Samsung Galaxy S25 series?) will have the new Snapdragon 8 Elite ticking at the core.
Additionally, in the Qualcomm press release, Samsung is also listed under leading OEMs which are poised to launch phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite in the ‘coming weeks’, although the Galaxy S25 series is expected to debut around early 2025.
Samsung phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite is coming
- The Samsung executive, without explicitly mentioning the Galaxy S25 series, said the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite at the core will enhance the Galaxy AI experience.
- Roh said that Qualcomm’s expertise in intelligent computing and commitment to advancing mobile AI will be a part of the future Galaxy AI experiences, which could hint towards the possible Galaxy S25 series.
- This is considering the Galaxy S25 series is the only next flagship offering coming out from the South Korean giant.
- As said, in the Qualcomm press release link, Samsung is also listed along with other OEMs like Realme, Xiaomi, OPPO and others to launch phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
- The Samsung executive opined that the new Qualcomm mobile platform at the core will deliver a “more initiative and unified ecosystem.”
Although these statements and the mention of ‘Samsung’ could be a hint towards the Galaxy S25 series, it isn’t clear whether all models in the lineup will have the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset or will be limited to just Galaxy S25 Ultra like the S24 Ultra this year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. There have also been rumours of the upcoming Samsung flagship series to be powered by MediaTek chipsets, which we have no confirmation on.
Samsung is also reportedly working on the Exynos 2500 chipset and the SoC was recently spotted on Geekbench but it could be from a reference device and not an actual phone. There are reports that Samsung’s yields for the Exynos 2500 aren’t good so it may not have enough supply in time for the Galaxy S25 lineup. This may mean that the South Korean giant could go all out with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally. The last time this happened was with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series in 2022.
