OPPO Find X8 series’ iPhone-like camera button shown off in official image | Tech Tips

OPPO Find X8 is set to launch in China this month and will be the first to come with MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. Before the launch, the company has been pretty open about teasing the phone. Recently, it showed off the front design of the OPPO Find X8 Pro. In a fresh new reveal, OPPO executive Zhou Yibao has shared the live image of the OPPO Find X8, which reveals the anticipated camera button. The executive has shared more details of the button.

The OPPO Find X-series is a flagship lineup, with the camera being the focus point. They will arrive with Hasselblad-tuned optics. The OPPO Find X8 series is already confirmed to feature the new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset.

OPPO Find X8 camera button confirmed

• The OPPO executive says that the decision to include a capture button was finalised internally last year in November.
• The button will be dubbed “Quick Launch” (machine translation) and it will be present on the right edge of the phone.
• This is believed to be a capacitive button, which means there will be a linear vibration motor, unlike the iPhone 16 which also has a camera button.

• The main idea behind having the camera button is to quickly capture a moment before it passes. This should eliminate juggling through various settings/menus within the camera interface.
• The executive in a Weibo post details various missed opportunities while clicking a picture in certain scenarios. This led to the decision to include a camera button and this was readily agreed by the company’s R&D department. 
• There are reports the Quick Launch button will have other functions beyond just camera controls.

Yibao says there are philosophies/principles to having the camera button: it should be easy to use i.e. positioned where it is easily accessible, the second principle is that it should be simple to use without being too complex, and lastly, the button needs to be seamlessly integrated with the phone’s design.

Another OPPO executive Liu Zuohu reiterated the same reasons for having the camera button on the Find X8 series. “You just need to press the shutter with your heart, capture the beauty in front of you, and leave the rest to OPPO,” said the executive.
