Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset | Tech Tips
Samsung’s upcoming flagship series has been a popular choice in the rumour mill. Reports about the chipset the Galaxy S25 series will use this time have been interesting with multiple options. Some suggest Samsung will use only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for all models, while a few say it will follow the Exynos/Snapdragon breakup. There was also one rumour about Samsung possibly using a MediaTek chipset for its flagship phones. This might just be the winner according to a new report.
Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ to use MediaTek’s flagship chipset
- Samsung using a MediaTek chipset for its flagship smartphone series would be a first but it could happen with the Galaxy S25 lineup.
- The hint comes from a blog by Google introducing ‘AlphaChip’, its AI-powered chip design technology. The blog was published on September 26th but an X user (via GizmoChina) spotted this one line hinting the possibility of Samsung’s flagships using the MediaTek Dimensity 5G chipset.
- The blog mentions, “External organizations are also adopting and building on AlphaChip. For example, MediaTek, one of the top chip design companies in the world, extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips — like the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones — while improving power, performance and chip area.”
- This suggests that the Galaxy S25 series could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 5G chipset scheduled to launch tomorrow.
- Possibly the regular Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will come with this chipset in the global market, while the Ultra model uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.

This isn’t a confirmation of any sort but it does hint on the possibility of seeing MediaTek chipsets on Samsung’s flagship phones. The recently launched Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10 Ultra are powered by the Dimensity 9300+ SoC.
MediaTek has also confirmed that its flagship Dimensity 9400 chipset will feature Google’s Gemini Nano with multimodality, which has on-device capabilities currently limited to the Pixels. Samsung and Google have already launched AI features for the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. This adds to the speculation that Samsung might use the Dimensity 9400 SoC for its flagship phones.
