Following the launch of the iPhone 16 series, teardown videos of some of the new iPhones have started emerging online. iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max teardown video highlights

  • YouTuber Zack from JerryRigEverything has conducted a teardown of the newly announced iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
  • Both iPhones offer similar internal structures, but they feature a notable difference.
  • The YouTuber starts tearing the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which shows a lack of the new metal enclosure designed to facilitate battery removal.
  • Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro features this metal enclosure. Apart from this, the internal components and layout of the two devices are identical.

The teardown video shows the Pro models do not include the new voltage-sensitive battery glue found in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Notably, it also revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro features a battery capacity of 3,582mAh, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4,695mAh cell.

Additionally, iPhone enthusiasts speculate that the metal battery enclosure may enhance thermal control, but the YouTuber pointed out that the internal design does not support heat dissipation. Zack suggests the change may be influenced by EU regulations requiring removable batteries by 2027.

During the teardown of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Zack removed two metal plates held by seven TriPoint screws to access the device’s internal components. He noted that Apple’s use of various screw sizes complicates the disassembly process. Additionally, a thermal graphite layer is present to help transfer heat from the motherboard to the aluminum frame.

In terms of the camera department, the teardown video shows all sensors are integrated into a single module. While the main and periscopic sensors feature OIS, the ultra-wide sensor does not.

As per the YouTuber, the tech giant incorporates sensor-shift stabilisation, which involves magnets and components and is located within the sensor itself. It shows a piece of tetra prism glass, an optical component used in camera systems, that separates the telephoto sensor and the lens.
