The iPhone 16 Pro was launched this month in India and globally alongside the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Here’s more about the glitch that new iPhone 16 Pro users are facing.

iPhone 16 Pro touchscreen, swipe issues reported

According to a report by 9To5Mac, some iPhone 16 Pro users have complained that they are encountering issues with touchscreen unresponsiveness, and their taps and swipes are often not registered.

As per the report, this issue is likely because of a software bug rather than a hardware defect. It mentions that the sensitivity of iOS’s accidental touch rejection system seems to be causing intended touches to be overlooked.

The report states that users are likely accidentally activating the system which ignores their taps, by touching other parts of the screen. A number of users noticed this happens more when their finger is near the Camera Control on the right side. However, it seems to occur at all four edges of the display.

It also suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro temporarily ignores new touches on the screen, leading to missed taps and swipes. Users have noted that the issue may worsen due to the thinner screen bezels, which increase the likelihood of accidental contact with the edges of the display.

The issue does not appear when the iPhone remains idle on the lock screen. It happens only when users unlock the phone, specifically while they scroll through apps or swipe between home screen pages.

As per the report, the issue is reportedly affecting iPhones running iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta, and it can likely be resolved with a software update. Notably, Apple hasn’t responded on the matter yet.
