Highlights
  • The One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy S23 Ultra paused over camera issues.
  • The update is first rolling out in South Korea and will soon expand to more markets.
  • The One UI 6.1.1 update brings the September 2024 Android security patch and new AI features.

Samsung has paused the roll-out of the One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy S23 Ultra after reports of the camera causing weird ghosting issues, especially when taking zoom pictures. The update to the Galaxy S23 series was rolled out earlier this month, starting with South Korea and then other markets.

While it paused the update for one model, older generation devices like the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 lineup are now receiving the One UI 6.1.1 update, starting with South Korea. This brings the September 2024 security patch, AI features, updates to stock Samsung apps, and other improvements.

Samsung pauses One UI 6.1.1 update to Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung has stopped the rollout of the One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S23 Ultra owing to camera issues. Reportedly, the update is causing ghosting issues when zooming in, especially when taking pictures between 16x and 19.9x zoom levels. Usually, at this level, images should come out sharp but are now resulting in blurry and unusable. This issue doesn’t create any such issues on the regular Galaxy S23 and S23+.

Samsung has acknowledged the issue and assured that it will fix it soon. As a first step, it is stopping the rollout of the One UI 6.1.1 update. For those who have already updated to One UI 6.1.1, turning on the “Intelligent optimization” in camera settings seems to fix the ghosting issue.
