ASUS ROG Phone 9 spotted on China’s CQC certification site; key specifications tipped | Tech Tips

Highlights
  • ASUS ROG Phone 9 could get a processor and display upgrade.
  • However, the charging speed and memory configuration appear to be similar to the ROG Phone 8 Pro.
  • Based on current indications, the Phone 9 series could come early.

As expected, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 has started appearing on certification websites well ahead of its official launch. The phone has been spotted on China’s certification body CQC. The listing gives away the upcoming ROG Phone’s charging speed. Meanwhile, the tipster who spotted this has claimed the phone’s processor, display, and memory configuration. The alleged specs are flagship-grade but nothing surprising here.

ASUS ROG Phone 9 specifications as per CQC

Tipster Smart Pikachu has shared the CQC listing of the ASUS phone on Weibo. The listed model is ASUSAI2501A. That’s different from the ROG Phone 9 model (ASUSAI2501C) spotted on the IMEI database a few months ago. Both are consistent with ROG Phone 8’s ASUS_AI2401_A model number though.

More importantly, the listing reveals the following details:

  • Processor: ASUS could be arming the ROG Phone 9 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. Well, this isn’t surprising considering the ROG Phone 8 ships with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
  • Charging: The phone could support the same 65W charging speed as its predecessor. Fans would have loved to be surprised with faster charging. The adapter with the ROG Phone 8 series supports 100 percent charge in 39 minutes and features PD 3.0 and Quick Charge 5.0 standards.
  • Memory: The tipster suggests the phone could come with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. The ROG Phone 8 Pro had this much memory. Meanwhile, the regular ROG Phone 8 shipped with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.
  • Display: It is said to be an upgraded panel, but how isn’t specified. The Phone 8 has a 6.78-inch 165Hz FHD+ LTPO AMOLED screen with 2,500 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Among other things, the ROG Phone 8 lineup also brought a 50MP triple rear camera setup, a 32MP selfie shooter, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a 5,500mAh battery.
