Apple launched its most premium and expensive iPhones — the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max during its launch event on Monday. With this year’s Pro models, Apple has added a new ‘Camera Capture’ button (also seen in the entry-level iPhone 16 models) that works like a DSLR’s shutter button. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max also come with larger displays, thinner bezels, the new A18 Pro chipset, and Apple Intelligence.

• The iPhone 16 Pro starts from Rs 1,19,900 for the 128GB storage model while the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts from Rs 1,44,900 for the 256GB storage model.

• The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be available for pre-order starting Friday and will go on sale from September 20th.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have the same design as last year’s models but are taller and wider. This is because of the larger displays on the Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro display has increased from 6.1-inch to 6.3-inch, while the Pro Max has gone up from 6.7-inch to 6.9-inch, making it the largest iPhone display ever. The bezels on both phones are thinner, and they maintain the same weight as well. They use Grade 5 Titanium.

Like the iPhone 15 Pro series, the new generation also has the Action button that replaces the mute switch on the left. There’s also a new Camera Control button on the right side, which blends with the side panel. This button makes it easier to capture photos and also doubles up as an AI button to perform certain actions like clicking and looking up a picture.

Apple has also introduced a new gold ‘Desert Titanium’ colour for the iPhone 16 Pro series, which replaces last year’s Blue Titanium. Overall, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come in Desert Titanium, White Titanium, Black Titanium, and Natural Titanium.

• Display: The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The bigger iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. 
• Processor: The Pro models are powered by the new A18 Pro Bionic chip. The new CPU is 15% faster than A17 Pro. There’s a new 6-core GPU that runs 20 percent faster than A17 Pro. It is also capable of 2x faster ray tracing. 
• Cameras: The iPhone 16 Pro series features a triple-camera setup with a 48MP primary Fusion camera, a 12MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, you get a 12MP front camera on both Pro models. 
• Camera features: The Camera Control button allows you to seamlessly transition between all three cameras. You also get new Photographic Styles to enhance your images. The 48MP fusion camera can capture videos at 4K at 120fps for the first time. There’s a new cinematic slow-mo video mode as well.
• Battery life:
• Software: iOS 18 out of the box. Will get Apple Intelligence as a free upgrade later this year. 
• Other features: A new Camera Capture button, Action button, IP68 rating, USB Type-C port, MagSafe charging, NFC.
