iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus prices in India have been officially announced following their launch at Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on Monday. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus succeeds last year’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus (review), respectively. This time around, Apple has ensured the entry-level iPhones get the same chipset as the Pro models along with Apple Intelligence, both of which can’t be said for their predecessors. Like last year, the new iPhone lineup includes four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus prices in India, release date
- The iPhone 16 is priced at $799 for the base model with 128GB storage. It comes in two more variants: 256GB and 512GB.
- The iPhone 16 Plus also comes in three variants: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, and it starts at $899.

iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus: design, colours
Design: Overall, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus look more or less the same as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. We have the Dynamic Island display on the front and flat edges. One major change here is the rear camera design, which is now vertical and not diagonal. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature vertically aligned rear cameras like the iPhone X. The new iPhones are also said to be 50 percent stronger than the previous models.
New Capture, Action buttons: The Action button, which debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro models, is now available on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Apple has also debuted a new ‘Camera Control’ button on the iPhone 16 series, which is available on the vanilla models as well. This is a dedicated button for the camera located on the right side just below the power button. You can access features like autofocus with a light press, capture with a hard press, and zoom by swiping left and right.
The Camera Control button can even be used to provide information about anything that you capture from your iPhone. Called ‘visual intelligence’, this feature is coming to the iPhone 16 series later this year.
Colours: The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come in the same colours. Both phones are available in Green, White, Pink, Blue, and Black.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with the same specifications and features except for the display size and battery life.
- Display: The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch display, while the Plus model has a bigger 6.7-inch screen. Both models have a Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to 2000 nits peak brightness.
- Processor: The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by the new A18 Bionic chip. Apple says that the new chip is 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic, while the GPU is 40 percent faster.
- Cameras: The iPhone 16 series has a 48MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor that can be used for macro shots as well. The 48MP primary camera doubles up as a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Up front is the same 12MP front camera on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.
- Battery life: Apple said the iPhone 16 series comes with a bigger battery but haven’t revealed the details.
- Software: The iPhone 16 series comes with the latest iOS 18 out of the box. With iOS 18, the new iPhones also have Apple Intelligence.
