After OnePlus and Samsung, Motorola and Vivo users start facing green line issue | Tech Tips

OnePlus users in India have been suffering with their phones getting the green line issue. The brand even offered a lifetime display warranty and free screen upgrade for those affected by the green line issue. Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 users also faced the same for which the brand announced free display replacement.

Now it looks like Motorola and Vivo users are now facing this problem with several in India talking about it on social media. However, these users don’t seem to be lucky as they’ve complained about the brand not offering a free replacement.

Moto G82, G52 green line issue

  • Motorola smartphone users in India have been sharing about the green line issue on X (via TheTechOutlook). It looks like the green line is appearing mostly on the Moto G82 and Moto G52 phones according to posts by users.
  • In some cases, there’s a single green line that appears on the screen while some have multiple lines of different colours running along the display. This issue seems to have been occurring since last year as some complaints are from September, October, and December.
  • Similarly, Moto G82 users are also facing the same green line issue without any physical damage to the device. The problem here is both phones are out of warranty as they were launched in 2022. Motorola has reportedly denied free screen replacement since the phones are out of warranty.

The same issue has cropped up on the Vivo X80, Vivo X80 Pro, and Vivo X70 Pro+ smartphones as well. One Vivo X70 Pro+ user said that the green line appeared after installing the July 2024 update. But as we’ve seen, this is a hardware defect and not related to software. Vivo X80 users have also complained about this issue on X.

This green line issue reportedly affects smartphones with OLED and AMOLED displays, and unfortunately, the damage is permanent. The only solution also appears to be a screen replacement. With the green line appearing on more phones now and of different brands, the issue has become widespread. It’s now up to the brands on how they decide to do damage control.
