Huawei’s tri-folding phone to launch in China on September 10th: what to expect | Tech Tips

Huawei’s tri-folding phone finally gets an official launch date. The handset will debut on September 10th, as revealed by the brand on its Weibo account. The tri-folding phone will open up like a tablet when completely unfolded and there will be two hinges in place. Huawei’s CEO Richard YU was spotted using the tri-folding phone in recent times.

Huawei tri-fold phone is coming

• Reiterating the same, Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter reports that Huawei will be launching a tri-fold phone just hours after Apple’s big iPhone 16 event.
• The teaser image shared on Weibo doesn’t clearly show off the design just yet but it teases two hinges, confirming the tri-folding phone.
• Not much is revealed about Huawei’s tri-folding phone at the moment but the live images spotted in the hands of the CEO showed a slim profile when completely unfolded and a bit thick when folded back.
• The images confirm there will be a large circular camera module on the back panel and this houses at least triple camera sensors.
• The large form factor will offer more screen real estate, like a tablet but is not as bulky and big
• It is reported that the Huawei tri-fold phone will have a large 10-inch screen when completely unfolded.

Not much else is known about the Huawei tri-fold phone but we can speculate it would ship with top-end hardware like cameras, the chipset, and more. Since this is the first gen tri-fold model, the price may not be affordable or similar to the bi-fold phones that are available on the market. One can expect the phone to come with a very premium price tag, which might gradually decrease as the tri-folding tech evolves.

Besides Huawei, Tecno recently unveiled its Phantom 2 Ultimate tri-folding phone concept. It is just 11mm in thickness and is believed to have the same thickness levels as the current bi-folding models. It has a large 10-inch screen when unfolded and a 6.48-inch panel when folded. Tecno says the hinge design has a strength of 2100MPa and can support over 300,000 folds.
