Possible Meta Quest 3S VR headset spotted on Dekra certification site | Tech Tips

Meta is reportedly working on a new version of its VR headset dubbed ‘Quest 3S’. There’s still no official word on when Meta plans to launch its next VR headset. The new Meta Quest 3S VR headset is expected to cater to the entry-level segment with a starting price cheaper than the Quest 3. Now, 91mobiles has spotted a new Meta VR headset on the Dekra certification site. This could be the Meta Quest 3S. 

New Meta VR headset spotted on Dekra certification site

A new VR headset under Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has appeared on the Dekra certification site. The company’s name and product type have been mentioned on Dekra suggesting an imminent launch. There’s no other information revealed here but it confirms that there is an upcoming Meta VR headset, which is most likely the rumoured Quest 3S. 

Meta Quest 3S: what we know so far

As the name suggests, the Meta Quest 3S will be based on the existing Quest 3. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Quest 3S will be offered as an entry-level device so Meta can get more people into its ecosystem. The moniker hasn’t been finalised yet but Meta might eventually go with Quest 3s. 

The Meta Quest 3S is said to be priced between $300 and $400, which would be considerably cheaper than the Quest 3 which costs $500. However, Meta will sell only the VR headset for the said price and the controllers will be sold separately. The Quest 3 comes bundled with the controllers. There isn’t anything else known about Meta’s upcoming VR headset but we should get to know more soon. 

Meta Connect 2024 is taking place on September 25th and 26th where it’s expected to unveil its future AR glasses called ‘Orion’. It’s at this event where we might see the new Meta Quest 3S debut.
