The iFixit expert says the Pixel 9 Pro front panel is too easy to open, but this results in the display not working. To avoid this problem, you can remove the back panel to enter the phone. The repairer highlights how the rear camera bump is part of the back panel. We also see a flex cable connecting the Pixel 9 Pro’s temperature sensor between the back panel and the mainboard.
To get into the internals, you have to carefully remove several screws, stickers, and spring latches. To remove the battery, you have to use a sliding saw-style pull tab. Neither pulling it nor using a lubricant brings it apart that easily in the iFixit video.
The USB-C port, haptic motor, and speaker module come apart easily in comparison. The internal setup is confusing enough for the iFixit expert that he goes on to unfasten whichever screws he sees.
He also underlines the fact that the camera assembly is fastened by three press connectors “that are only accessible from the rear side of the mainboard”. This would be something to note while repairing this setup.
So, that’s about the dismantling experience. In the process, we get to see the phone’s various internal components like the Google Tensor G4 sensor, Samsung Exynos S5400 5G modem that powers SOS satellite emergency messaging, 18.28 WHr battery, 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GNK main sensor and other cameras.
