Alleged Google Pixel 9a leaked image shows flat edges like flagship Pixel 9 series | Tech Tips

The Google Pixel 9 series launched recently with four phones in total including a foldable. The next Pixel phone to look out for is the ‘affordable’ Pixel 9a. It would succeed the Pixel 8a that launched in May this year. There’s a new leak that shows what’s supposed to be the design of the Pixel 9a.

Google Pixel 9a leaked render

  • Two images showing the Google Pixel 9a were shared on Facebook (now deleted) revealing its design.
  • According to this render, the Pixel 9a can be seen with flat edges like the Pixel 9 phones. There’s one major difference though and that’s the rear camera design.
  • The Pixel 9 lineup has a large camera bar at the back but the Pixel 9a can be seen with something completely different. The camera island here doesn’t protrude and is tucked in the phone’s rear panel.
  • It’s quite surprising that Google would go for this design change as even the Pixel 9 series with its dual setup carries the large camera bar. The LED flash also sits just next to the camera sensors.

This could be a prototype model of the Pixel 9a and not necessarily the design. Also, the source isn’t verified so it’s best to take this leak with a pinch of salt. Up front, the Pixel 9a has a punch-hole display with thin bezels. The USB Type-C port, SIM slot, and speaker are located at the bottom of the phone. Moving the SIM tray at the bottom is another change and the same as the Pixel 9 lineup. The Pixel 9a also looks like it has a matte back like the Pixel 8a.

The design shift to flat edges makes sense as the Pixel 9a would be based on the Pixel 9. It’s expected to come with the same Google Tensor G4 chipset that powers the flagship models. The Pixel 8a launched in May this year so its successor is also expected to debut around the same time next year.
