HyperOS 2.0 pops up in Xiaomi system code, release imminent | Tech Tips
We know that Xiaomi is working on HyperOS 2.0 for its devices. The upcoming OS will replace MIUI on all Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices. As the company continues to develop the OS, leaks about what to expect surface online now and then. Now, a code mentioning HyperOS 2.0 has been spotted in Xiaomi software. Let’s check out what we know about it so far.
HyperOS 2.0 spotted in Xiaomi system code
Folks over at XiaomiTime discovered some intriguing data about HyperOS 2.0. The new interface will be based on Android 14 and 15, and it is likely to be available on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phones. While investigating the system’s code, a new line was discovered that was not present in either HyperOS 1.5 or Android 15 Beta 2.
For those unaware, Xiaomi initially intended to release a new version of MIUI, the MIUI 15 but later chose to launch MIUI 15 as “HyperOS 1.0” instead. Due to this update, some MIUI 15 code remained in the system. These traces could imply that Xiaomi is transitioning away from MIUI and entirely adopting HyperOS.
This transition also signals that Xiaomi plans to axe MIUI and fully embrace the HyperOS for its devices. By focusing on HyperOS, Xiaomi can streamline the development of new software and improve the user experience across all of its devices.
Here are some changes that we can expect from HyperOS 2.0:
- New Super Wallpapers feature
- Improved animation engine for smoother animations
- Revamped camera UI
- HyperMind 2.0 to switch between balance and battery life
- Group notifications if from the same source
- Redesigned control centre
- Personalised messages in Always on Display
- Camera Scan to locate hidden cameras
As we await the official release of HyperOS 2.0, it’s evident that Xiaomi has made great progress in the development of its operating system and could release it in October with the Xiaomi 15 series.
