Huawei’s tri-folding phone to launch in September: report | Tech Tips
Huawei appears to be working on a new foldable phone that falls under a whole new category. What makes this unique is that it is not your usual bi-folding phone, instead is a tri-fold. This means it opens up into a large tablet-like form factor. While this type of design is restricted to just demos and patents, a new report suggests the phone could launch soon.
Huawei tri-folding phone
- Recent leaks suggested Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu was spotted using the unique tri-folding phone.
- The phone seemingly has an extremely slim profile when folded and a bit thick when folded.
- After the leaks, a new report by MyDrivers says Huawei CEO Richard Yu apparently confirmed the imminent launch of the foldable.
- The report says that the CEO told an executive that the foldable he had been using over the past few weeks would be launched as soon as September. However, an exact date is not mentioned at the moment.
- This is an interesting development considering Samsung, Xiaomi. and other brands are still launching book-style foldables.
- Huawei foldables have been the talk of the town mainly because they compete with their regular flagships in terms of weight and thickness.
The Huawei tri-folding phone would come with two hinges, hence is a bit thick when compared to regular foldables. This is evident from the blurry shots that leaked on the internet. It is reported that the Huawei foldable will have a large 10-inch display, which may become the largest display on a foldable.
The recently launched Honor Magic V3 phone measures just 9.2mm thin when folded and 4.35mm when unfolded. The phone weighs just 226 grams, making it one of the lightest on the market. Not much else is known about the Huawei tri-folding phone at the moment but we can speculate it to come with top-end hardware and premium specifications.
