Google Pixel 9 series: what’s new?

To start with, a third Pixel in the flagship is new with the addition of the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It has the biggest display and battery among the three Pixels. The Pixel 9 series is powered by the latest in-house Tensor G4 chipset and 16GB RAM for the first time on the Pro models. The vanilla Pixel 9 also gets a new 48MP ultra-wide camera and 12GB of RAM.

The Pixel 9 series comes with Google AI that’s clubbed with Google One membership for one year. A new on-device AI feature introduced with the Pixel 9 series is ‘Pixel Screenshots’. It saves information like events and locations from your screenshots and lets you easily find them later.

Google also bumped the front camera on the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL to 42MP from the 10.5MP sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro. It has increased optical zoom up to 10x from 5x on all three lenses of the Pro models. Night Sight Video has improved and the Video Boost feature can now enhance videos to up to 8K resolution. Google is also releasing a new editing feature called ‘Add Me’. As the name suggests, this feature merges group photos with the person clicking it so no one’s left out.
