WhatsApp might soon allow users to record and send voice messages to Meta AI, spotted in beta | Tech Tips

WhatsApp is reportedly working on several new features, such as an offline file-sharing feature for iOS users, a voice message transcribing feature for Android, and much more. Now, a new report suggests that the messaging platform is testing a new feature that will let users record and send voice messages to Meta AI. Notably, it currently supports text inputs. Here are some details regarding the expected feature, which aims to enhance interactions with the Meta AI.

WhatsApp voice messages for Meta AI feature details

  • The much anticipated WhatsApp voice messages feature for Meta AI has been spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10.
  • A report by WABetaInfo suggests the feature is rolling out to select beta testers who have installed the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android.
  • Furthermore, the report notes that the WhatsApp voice messages for Meta AI feature will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
  • The screenshot posted by the WhatsApp feature tracker shows a new button has been added to the chat interface for sending voice messages.
  • This update lets some beta testers communicate with Meta AI with voice commands, whereas previously, interaction was limited to text input only.
  • The report mentions that if it cannot process a voice message due to background noise or poor audio quality, the chatbot will ask users to record the message again.

Other expected WhatsApp features

As per a recent report, the messaging platform is also developing an offline file-sharing feature for iOS users. It is speculated that the feature will allow users to share high-resolution photos, videos and documents with other users on the platform.

On the other hand, the WhatsApp voice message transcribing feature was recently spotted in Android beta. This feature was introduced to iOS users last year and lets users read audio messages with the help of the transcript feature, which will likely be beneficial for users with hearing impairments.
